"Love God, Love Others, Serve Both"
Willie Hackett recently asked for ideas of people whom God blessed this year. My first thought went to church members who have recently experienced milestones in their life. New children, jobs, homes etc. I didn’t even think about myself until I was listening to Aaron’s recorded message from last Sunday. I was reminded of how God has blessed me with so much.
Shame on me for only thinking it takes a milestone to be thankful for blessings from God. Having an ordinary life is the same as having a wonderful, blessed life. I was reminded to be thankful for the simple things.
Last weekend Victoria Ybanez and I woke up before the sun for a drive to Fort Wayne. I was thankful for a simple hot Speedway “Pumpkin Spice” to sip as we drove into a beautiful sunrise in the east sky. As the sun was climbing the wet fields were emitting a haze giving the fall trees a beautiful soft frame against the blue skies. As we drove by Hoffman Lake our breath was taken away at the picturesque scene before us, so much so, we did a U-turn and drove down to the lake to get a better view. The sides and fall colors of the lake were peaking out behind a mist rising up from the water. A small white cloud was hovering low over the lake blocking our view of the other side. We could see the lights of cars through the mist as they seem to float through the cloud.
This is an ordinary scene that is played out almost daily on our earth. A gift given to us by God to make our days brighter and cheerful. Thank you Lord for these small, ordinary, everyday little blessings.
